Aww, that's a cute feel-good piece. Kinda ominous to hear the people there now complaining about section 8 folks moving in though. So many people are afraid of anyone not exactly like them!
I gotta book suggestion because I thought exactly about it when I read the article, The South Side: The Racial Transformation of an American Neighborhood by Louis Rosen.
As for section 8 people. I'm sure there are some bad apples, but I'm also sure there are those who make good neighbors. I'd take it on a case by case basis.
