Thanks for the love for Mount Carmel. The school has been an anchor in the neighborhood since 1900. When everyone else bailed on the neighborhood in the 60s and 70s, Mount Carmel remained. Today, 900 students come from several zip codes to study and grow in their faith. MC is not some rich northshore school, it is a school rooted in the past, and that past includes educating working-class folks. MC is using its resources to educate, and to upgrade their entire campus. The neighborhood should be proud that MC calls Woodlawn home!
Urban pioneer and frustrated condo owner who wants to experience most of what Chicago has to offer. This is my tale of woe as my neighbors and I deal with the business of running a condo association that has been left in a shambles by our developer.
